Forums take place on Sunday mornings at 9:40 AM from September to May. All are welcome to attend these learning opportunities.
This year, we will often focus on two related aspects of learning in our faith–being real and sensing the Word. Being real means we learn best when something touches our real life–and when we are able to be real with our doubts and questions as well as our values and abilities. Sensing the Word may need a little more description. We believe that God's Word not only has become incarnate in Jesus, but is in-the-flesh of our lives now, too. So we can use all our senses to experience God's living Word. Sensing the Word can happen not only through reading with our eyes or listening with our ears, but by walking, seeingartwork, tasting the grace of a good meal, or the back-and-forth of conversation. Don't limit the possibilities! We will look at how we can sense the Word in all kinds of ways.
Reconciling in Christ Conversations
We invite you to attend one or more of the upcoming conversations in our Reconciling in Christ process. School Tools Drive Ends August 19
We are again participating in Interfaith Action's School Tools Drive and collect essential school supplies to benefit school children from low-income families in the East Metro area. If you can help, please bring school supplies to church between now and August 19. A list of needed items is on the bulletin board across from the church office.
Summer Bible Study
We will gather one more time this summer to study the women who are named in Matthew's gospel. How much do you know about Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, Mary, and Mary Magdalene, among others? We will meet on Wednesday, August 1 at 1:00 pm.
Summer Adult Yoga
It's not too late to join our summer adult yoga session. The group meets on Thursday evenings until Thursday, August 16 from 7:00—8:15 pm. Yoga and wine is planned for Thursday, August 9. The cost is $10 per class. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Loaves & Fishes
Interested in feeding hungry neighbors while feeding your soul? Loaves and Fishes is a great group of people who help serve a meal once a month to neighbors at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. In August, we need people to help serve on Tuesday, August 28. You can help anytime after 4:45 pm. Clean-up help is especially appreciated (around 6:00 pm). For more information, contact the church office.
Como Park Elementary Clothing Drive August 26—September 23
Tutoring. The Sheridan Story. And now, a clothing drive.
Over the past few years, St. Timothy has been building a relationship with our neighborhood school, Como Park Elementary. Eunice Circle, one of our small group ministries, recently asked if there was more that we, as a church, could do to support the students, 90% of whom fall below the poverty line. One need is clothing—new or gently used.
So, here’s the plan, good people of St. Timothy! Eunice Circle will be doing a clothing drive. Sweat-pants, sweatshirts, and t-shirts are especially needed as well as hats, mittens and snow pants for colder weather. The school suggested children’s sizes 4 through adult medium. As you are sorting through your children’s clothing for the coming school year, please consider donating any outgrown clothing to the drive. New clothing items also happily accepted. Simply place clothing in the box outside of the church office August 26—September 23.
Questions? Contact Debbie McNiff (651.645.8862) or Deb Wineman (651.644.3094). Many thanks, St. Timothy!!
Shopping tip: If you enjoy shopping at garage sales, you may find great bargains on gently used clothing.

A big thank-you to all who are supporting the Swanson family, our medical missionaries in Tanzania. Your financial gifts and prayers are very much appreciated. We also received a recent update from the Swansons that you can read here. Don’t miss the touching video about Baby Blessing’s amazing recovery at the bottom of the letter.
