Forums take place on Sunday mornings at 9:40 AM from September to May. All are welcome to attend these learning opportunities.
This year, we will often focus on two related aspects of learning in our faith–being real and sensing the Word. Being real means we learn best when something touches our real life–and when we are able to be real with our doubts and questions as well as our values and abilities. Sensing the Word may need a little more description. We believe that God's Word not only has become incarnate in Jesus, but is in-the-flesh of our lives now, too. So we can use all our senses to experience God's living Word. Sensing the Word can happen not only through reading with our eyes or listening with our ears, but by walking, seeingartwork, tasting the grace of a good meal, or the back-and-forth of conversation. Don't limit the possibilities! We will look at how we can sense the Word in all kinds of ways.
There will be no adult forums for the remainder of the year. Enjoy coffee hour and fellowship with others between services! We will resume the forums in January.
Volunteer Opportunity Fair
A ton of amazing things are happening at St. Timothy every week. Join us on Sunday, January 21 between services from 9:30 am – 12 noon and learn about the many volunteer opportunities here at St. Timothy and in our surrounding community. Perhaps you will become inspired to learn something new or serve in a new capacity! Participating in activities is a great way to get to know new people and become part of something larger. Connect with others and find new ways to use your many unique and important skills.
St. Timothy will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, January 28 at 12:00 pm. There will be a meal beginning at 11:45 am (right after the Celebrate worship service). The meeting will last approximately one hour. The agenda for the annual meeting will include elections, reports, and passing a budget for the coming year. This is an important part of our life together, so please make plans to come as we look ahead to our life together in 2018 and seek to grow in loving God and loving our neighbors!
We are collecting undies and socks for homeless men, women, and children through the month of January. New or gently used items are most appreciated. A donation basket is in front of the church office. Thank you!
New Small Group on Grief
We have a new small group beginning! Understanding Your Grief will begin on February 4 at 6:30 p.m. and go for eight weeks.
The group will be a place for you to explore your experience with grief by studying the book, Understanding your Grief: Ten Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart by Dr Alan D. Wolfelt. The book describes ten touchstones - or trail markers - that are essential physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual signs for mourners to look for on their journey through grief.
The group will provide an opportunity for you to open your heart and explore how someone's death has changed your life while in the company of others who have experienced loss.
The intent of the group is not to provide therapy but to provide companionship to one another as each person learns and explores their personal journey. Anyone is welcome.
There are a limited number of spots available. Contact Jennifer Daul, jennifer.daul@gmail. com or Pastor Ruth for more information.
Wednesday Bible Study
We are continuing our Bible Study at 1:00 pm on Wednesdays with Paul's Letters to the Romans. We are looking at Romans 14 and the end of the book during January. This study is open to all.
Loaves & Fishes
Interested in feeding hungry neighbors while feeding your soul? Loaves and Fishes is a great group of people who help serve a meal once a month to neighbors at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. In January, we need people to help serve on Tuesday, January 23. You can help anytime after 4:45 pm. Clean-up help is especially appreciated (around 6:00 pm). For more information, contact the church office.
St. Timothy sends out weekly emails with information about upcoming events as well as notes about what has been happening lately. If you would like to receive this email, please email your request to the office or call the office. Thanks!
