Blessed Again

This year in confirmation, we are making use of Daniel Erlander’s Manna and Mercy to explore overarching themes of scripture. Recently we read about Jesus’ teachings, and the ways that he turns upside down our expectations of God’s love. Erlander’s words for me were a fresh way of receiving God’s “blessing” that we hear about in the Beatitudes of this Sunday’s Gospel. He writes that Jesus taught that all people, even and especially those outcast by society and whom we would rather turn our noses against, in God’s love are…

Invited … included … affirmed … loved … touched … liberated … held … embraced … healed … cleansed … given dignity … fed … forgiven … made whole … called … reborn … given hope … received … honored … freed.

Which of these blessings from God will you receive today?

Yours in God’s love,
Liesl
