What Surpised You This Past Week?

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground, and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how.” (Mark 4:26-27)

What surprised you this past week?

Jesus talked about seeds and growth because he was speaking to people who relied on farming and fishing for livelihood. Yet Jesus said there is still mystery about how it happens. Do you find that truth to be freeing as you think about your own spiritual life? Does it leave space for relaxing into grace?

What spiritual insights have impacted you, even if “you do not know how” like the farmer in Jesus’ parable? How can we help one another notice these insights?

God’s beloved ones, the generous grace of God’s Spirit is at work in your life even as you are sleeping and rising, night and day. May God continue to give moments for insight and goodness this week.
