The Spirit’s Sighs

In Romans 8, Paul writes, “When we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ it is that very Spirit bearing witness that we are children of God.”

Paul seems to be saying that when we notice the groaning of creation, when we sigh with sorrow, God’s Spirit is right there with us. Pray today with a simple sigh. God’s Spirit is with you!

In these summer days, how do you notice the goodness of creation? In gardens, or produce, or birds and waters? Give thanks for these gifts.

How do you try to show care and connection to all creatures? By reducing your carbon footprint? By advocating for clean water? By pausing in nature to notice how intricately interwoven we are with all life?
