God and A Baker-Woman

In Matthew 13, Jesus says, “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

Jesus picks all the wrong things to signify God’s reign – yeast (because unleavened was used for holy occasions) and women (in a day when men were the priests). What people and items would Jesus choose today to show God’s way of being?

What are little things that bring energy and growth to your life (like the yeast did)? Are there certain songs, or people, or experiences that have an outsized impact on you?

Today look at something small – dandelion, blade of grass, ant, grain, etc. – and ponder it. Is there anything deeper that teaches you a lesson there?
